The Station on Ingersoll has been ranked as Iowa’s top dive bar for food and among the best in the U.S.
The Des Moines establishment cracked the top 60 best dive bars in the U.S. with great food, according to Geek Nexus, a personal finance and pop culture website. Located at 3124 Ingersoll Ave, The Station is also known for hosting pop-up bars every Halloween and Christmas.
“We never set out to be a dive bar nor thought we were ever considered that,” owner T.J. Rushing said. “But after reading the criteria, I suppose it checked out, so we’re honored.”
How did Geek Nexus determine the best dive bars?
Researchers at the website surveyed 3,000 adults across the U.S. and asked which dive bar serves the best food.
Participants were grouped based on shared traits like age, gender, and location. After gathering responses, adjustments were made to the data to account for any over- or underrepresented groups.
How did Iowa dive bars rank among the best in the U.S.?
The Station on Ingersoll ranked 59th out of 120, and Water’s Edge Bar and Grill in Polk City was the 110th best dive bar.
